In conversation with Rashmi about her journey and special needs.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
My name is Rashmi Patil. I am 24 years old. I have done my Diploma in Nrityayog Sutra through YCMOU. I am a national level Bharatanatyam dancer and choreographer. I am also an art teacher and take workshops for children with special needs. I own an online handmade jewelry business called Rashmi’s Art since six years. My jewelry has travelled all over the world. I am also a make-up artist and am trying my luck in the field of modeling at present.
What are your hobbies and interests?
I love to travel. If not in person, I travel virtually with the help of Google. I like to read books. I enjoy watching memes and reels on social media. I love to watch drama and web series. The best time I spend is chatting with my mom and playing with my dog.
What are your future plans/dreams/goals?
I want to work hard and earn good money to take my family on a trip. I also wish to buy my own house and a Royal Enfield bike and get my licence and go on solo trips.
How has your journey been so far?
My journey has had its ups and downs. It has not been easy but I kept thinking positively instead of negatively and carried on.
What are the challenges you have faced in your journey?
From my childhood, I have had good and bad experiences. In school, I tried to make friends with my classmates but many of them avoided me. They used to bully me and gossip about me and still do. Now that I have achieved some fame in my life, these classmates want to be friends with me. They message me but I rarely reply to them because I want them to understand how being ignored hurts. However, I feel I have to go ahead and forget about those past moments.
What has helped you in your journey?
In my journey, my mom and dad have supported me 100%. What I am today is only because of them. I want to thank them wholeheartedly for that.
What do you think would help people with special needs in their journey?
According to me, special need persons just need 100% support, love and care from their family, friends and surrounding people.
What message would you like to give people with special needs and their family and friends?
Don't think negatively. You may find people talking behind you, taunting you, gossiping about you, backstabbing you, but learn to ignore them and carry on. That will help you achieve success in the future. Take support from your family and friends and always work hard. Think positively and go ahead. Everything will be fine.
